![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Icons: Create an IconIn this tutorial, you will be taught how to apply various effects to an image to create an icon in eight simple steps. I strongly advise you to name each layer as you create it, as we will have many layers going at the same time and it can easily become confusing!Firstly, take your base image, I'll be using this:
Duplicate
Next create a new Raster Layer and name it 'Blue'. Set it to Exclusion, Opacity 100%, and fill it with a nice dark blue color, I used #0A1B64
Next, Duplicate your Background Layer, name it 'Base Duplicate' and drag it to the top. Set it to Overlay, Opacity 100%, and use the Gaussian Blur effect by going to Ajust > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the radius to 7.0. Create a new Raster Layer, name it 'Pink' and set it to Saturation(Legacy) at 100% Opacity. Fill it with a light pink/red color, I used #F7DDEA
Now go Edit > Copy Merged, then Paste as New Layer and name it 'Final Layer'. Set it on Hard Light at 62%
Finally, delete the layer you named 'Pink' and you should end up with something like this. Remember, that not all icons will look exactly like this.
Here is what your layers should look like at the end.
If you want to experiment with this technique, you can also stop at one of the above steps, to create a different effect to diversify your icons! Another icon made using this tutorial:
