Web 2.0 Text (border and shine)

This is a tutorial on how to make web 2.0 text, with a shine and a border. First off start by making a new document or opening the document you would like to put it on. For this tutorial I will be using a 500x200 canvas with a white background. Get out your text tool (you can push T or click the big "A" in the toolbox), and click the canvas and put what text you would like. On the toolbox, you'll see font, size, color, and other options. Change these as you like. For this I'll be using the font "Pepita MT", size "77", and color "660f93". I have wrote Neotacular. Now we will make the border. Right click your text layer and select "Alpha to Selection". The result will be that the text will be selected. If more than the text is selected, make sure that your text has its own layer. Now you will go to the top menu under "Select" and hit "Grow", according to how small or large a border you want, change this. I'll be doing a 3 pixel border. Click on the layer below your text and press Shift+Ctrl+N, or go to "Layer" and hit "New Layer". Make sure the layer is UNDER your text layer. Fill with whatever color you want your border to be, I will be using a black border. Now you have text with a border! Now for the shine, right click your border layer and hit "Alpha to Selection". Change your foreground color to white and select the Gradient tool. Most likely the forth one down is "FG to transparent". Select it. Create a new layer on top of your text layer. Pull the gradient from the top of the selection to the bottom of it. Make sure it is straight! Change your layer mode to "overlay" and you're done! Hope you enjoy!
